The blades of the301 StockmanKnifearemade of 420HC stainless steel, as this material has both exceptional corrosion resistance and wear resistance. Buck’s exclusive Paul Bos heat-treating and testing process maximizes both of these advantages, and makes the blade easy to resharpen when needed. It is hardened to a Rockwell Hardness of RC58 through a rigorous heating, freezing and reheating process.

The handles of the 301 Stockman are genuine wood with brass bolsters.
